Congrats, Mama! You now have a 6-8 week old baby, and those blissful newborn sleepy days are starting to fade a bit. You may be wondering how to help your baby get those longer naps she needs to grow and stay healthy. You might also be wondering if you’ll ever get a full night’s sleep again. I’m here to tell you, after having three babies myself, you will!
I’m also here to tell you that sleep doesn’t usually just “happen” for babies. It takes a bit of teaching intentionality. After successfully sleep training my 3 babes, I am very passionate about passing along the knowledge and experience I have gained to other mamas! I can tell you honestly that my firstborn slept through the night at 6 months old, my secondborn at 4 months old, and my 3rd born is already getting an 8-hour stretch of sleep in her 9 weeks of age! By the third time, it has become much easier and smoother, and makes more sense, so I hope that I can pass along this knowledge in a “user-friendly” way so that you, too, can enjoy a whole night’s sleep even in those early newborn months!
The file below is a PDF file that will give you some guidance on helping Baby fall back asleep if she wakes from a short nap. Of course, it’s tempting to jump right in as soon as she makes a peep, but you’d be surprised if you give her a bit of space and use the right tools, she can fall right back asleep. This will give you a bit more time to prep dinner, tidy up the house, do a workout, or spend quality time with other loved ones, allowing her the extra sleep she needs to grow and be healthy. When babies sleep well, everyone wins!
